And Now . . . The TSU Tornadoes!
LP (Item 21338) Funky Delicacies/Tuff City, Late 60s — Condition: New Copy
Funky funky Texas! The Texas State University Tornadoes were one of the Lone Star state's best combos during the late 60s – and they had a rolling funky soul groove that was very similar to the best "Tighten Up" work by Archie Bell & The Drells. The group has a super-tight rhythm section, which plays nice funky soul backing – punctuated by a tight 4-piece horn section that has a lot harder sound than some of the cheesier 70's horn sections that copped the group's style. Although the group is best remembered for their single "The Goose" on Atlantic, this album features their rarer work for the Ovide label from Houston – all of which has a similar feel to "The Goose". Titles include "Nee Nee", "Work On It", "The Tornado", "The Blautche", "Back After The News", and "Work On It". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
