Need To Be
LP (Item 426777) Venture, 1979 — Condition: Very Good+
A great little record from this little-known singer! The record was recorded in New Jersey with arrangements by Tony Camillo, but the sound often has strong echoes of the south – not in a gritty way, but in the warmer, more sophisticated modes that were creeping into southern soul at the end of the 70s. The blend of Camillo's full east cost leanings and some of these rootsier elements gives the record a nice degree of depth – and titles include "If You Want It You Got It", "Choking Kind", "Need To Be", "Pain In My Heart Medley", "Expressway To Your Heart", "Love To Be Your Woman", and "Love Me For What I Am".
