Taste Of Freedom

Add Item to Want List
LP (Item 6787) MGM, 1970 — Condition: Used

Massively groovy work from Monty Alexander – thanks to some hip, soulful backings from the legendary Johnny Pate! The sound here is a lot more swinging than some of Alexander's trio albums – much more of a Verve-styled session with fuller backings behind a main soloist – in this case the mighty Monty on some very fluid piano! Pate's backings support Alexander wonderfully – dropping out a bit when his solos come in, then surging with soul when the grooves come up – all in a sound that really makes us re-appreciate Monty's talents. Titles include "Close To You", "Have You Tried To Forget", "Big Yellow Taxi", "Let It Be", "Out Of Towners", and "Taste of Freedom". (Cover has a cut corner, edge wear, splitting & clear tape along the top seam, and some maker on the back.)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
