Massive work from the great Bobby Valentin – his first-ever album, issued back when he was a jazzy trumpeter! The record offers the "best in boogaloo" – as the cover states – and features a very mod mix of tunes that really gets at the mish-mash crossover energy of the Spanish Harlem scene of the late 60s! Highlights include the very groovy "Batman's Boogaloo", a reworking of the "Batman" theme; a hard driving remake of the hit "Good Lovin", one that really exposes its Latin roots; a driving descarga number called "The Gate"; a Latin jazz remake of "Song For My Father"; and the super-hip, super-swingin tune "Geronimo" – a Latin soul winner all the way through!  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Fania, 1972. New Copy (reissue)
One of Ray Barretto's hardest-hitting salsa albums of the 70s – a raw set of grooves that's got Ray moving away from the playfulness of the Latin Soul years, into a more righteous mode that's easily guessed at from the title of the set! The vibe here is very straightforward – with Ray ... LP, Vinyl record album

Oooooo-weee – a monster album by one of our favorite talents of the Latin soul era!
