Groovin' set of tracks that has the lady organist in two settings – one with her trio with Jimmy Cobb on drums, the other with a hard swingin' big band led by Oliver Nelson. She's great with Nelson's band, and swings in the same hard way that Jimmy Smith does in the same setting. Tracks include "Blue Piano", "Toys In The Attic", and the groovin' "Freedom Dance". (Orange & black label mono A-51 pressing. Cover has an index label on front.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Impulse, 1964. Very Good+ Gatefold
A great little album – a lot better than you might think from the concept! Live In San Francisco
Impulse, 1966. Near Mint- Gatefold
A great counterpart to some of Archie Shepp's studio albums for Impulse – a live date recorded in San Francisco, with a slightly freer, sharper edge! The sound is almost free at times, but always with that strong sense of focus that Archie brought to his brilliant work of the time – ... LP, Vinyl record album

Impulse, 1969/1974. Good+ Gatefold
A brilliant little album from Archie Shepp – material recorded on a variety of dates at the end of the 60s, but packaged together as an extremely soulful set in the mid 70s! There's a feel here that rivals some of the best moments of the Attica Blues years – a mix of spiritual soul ... LP, Vinyl record album

Breakthrough
Cobblestone, 1972. Good
One of the last great albums that Hank Mobley ever cut! Although Mobley's 70s output was nothing compared to his 60s Blue Note work, this 1972 session for Cobblestone/Muse is a winner, and features the aging tenorist co-leading a crack quintet with Cedar Walton, and featuring Billy Higgins, Sam ... Sun Goddess
Columbia, 1974. Very Good
One of our favorite Ramsey Lewis albums ever – and a perfect summation of the genius that was brewing on the Chicago scene in the late 60s and early 70s! The album has Ramsey working strongly with Earth Wind & Fire – no surprise, given his close ties to Maurice White, who was the ... LP, Vinyl record album
