LP (Item 534116) Cotique, 1967 — Condition: New Copy

One of the best boogaloo sessions of the late 60s – and an early expression of genius from Johnny Colon! The album's got an electric bass sitting right at the middle – plucking with strong and soulful lines that set the pace for the record from the very first note. Johnny's hip young group really cooks with a lot of energy, dancing around the rhythms with a tight blend of piano, trombone, and soulful vocals – and nearly every cut's a winner, making the album cook all the way through with a mix of Spanish and English themes. Titles include "You Gotta Love Me", "Mezclodo", "Oyelo", "New Cha", and "The Line Dance". (Remastered version on 140 gram vinyl. Limited numbered edition of 1000 copies.)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
