LP (Item 593421) EMI/Drag City, 1967 — Condition: New Copy

Incredible guitar from Carlos Paredes – playing here on a Portuguese version of the instrument, one that's got a round, hollow body that's a bit like a Brazilian bandolim – but which also features 12 strings as well! Paredes is amazing throughout – moving about the many strings with a deftness that's breathtaking, as he singles out individual notes with precise clarity, and runs them together in bright tunes that dance along with a really magical sort of energy! Carlos plays solo throughout, and is working in a style that's quite different from both Brazilian or Spanish acoustic guitar modes of the 60s – on titles that include "Pantomima", "Romance No 1", "Porto Santo", "Fantasia", "Melodia No 1", "Danca", and "Divertimento".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
