Of Blues & Dreams
CD (Item 593097) Sackville, 1978 — Condition: New Copy
One of the most deeply spiritual albums ever recorded by pianist Anthony Davis – a classic 70s set for Sackville, done with a quartet that includes Leroy Jenkins on violin, Abdul Wadud on cello, and Pheeroan Ak Laff on drums! The use of violin and cello next to Davis' piano is extremely evocative – and gives the record a feel that's unlike other improvised sets of the time – some darker, yet more sensitive sound textures – really rich in feeling, and building out strongly from a solo passage that begins the album. Titles include "Of Blues & Dreams", "Estraven", and the extended "Suite For Another World". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
