Strange Worlds In My Mind – Space Poetry Vol 1
LP (Item 544974) Norton, Late 50s/Early 60s — Condition: New Copy
An amazing side of Sun Ra's mighty talents – the first in a series of albums that focuses on vocal material from Ra, The Arkestra, and certain key guest performers! The style of music here is every bit as great as you'd hear on classic Saturn releases by Sun Ra – avant jazz, with plenty of offbeat and exotic touches, and some weird electronics too – but over the music, there's also vocals on every track – some recited by Ra himself, with a focus on his more poetic lyrics – some delivered by the enigmatic Yochanan, or vocalist Roy Stubbs. Tracks are shorter than usual Saturn album tracks – making us guess that some of these were intended for singles, although a number of cuts here are from unreleased tapes and rehearsals, too. Titles include "Message To Earthman", "I Am Trying To Find Myself", "The Damned Air", "My Children", "If They Only Knew", "My World Is The Space Way", "Death Speaks To The Negro", and "I Am An Instrument". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
