Two great duet recordings – each featuring Muhal Richard Abrams with a fellow member of the AACM! CD1 features what may well be the last recording of tenor giant Fred Anderson – a performance recorded late in 2009, with Abrams on piano and Anderson blowing some wonderfully tentative lines on tenor – much more sensitive at points than some of his other later recordings – and proof that at the right moments, Fred really knows how to demonstrate his ties to the AACM! CD2 features Muhal working with the great George Lewis – who plays both trombone and laptop, always with an ear to the unique sounds and colors that Abrams can get from a piano – the pair of them almost painting together in sound. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
