Choros & Alegria
CD (Item 507000) Adventure Music, 2005 — Condition: Used
The first full album in years from the legendary Moacir Santos – and a beautiful little album that's filled with all the deep feeling and inventive arrangement of his older work! As the title might imply, the set borrows song structure and spirit from the Brazilian choro tradition – reworked here by Santos with his angular approach to rhythm and jazzy approach to instrumentation – so that the tunes slide warmly into one another, moving with a fluid, organic sense that we really like a lot. For the sessions, Santos pulled together a host of jazz and more traditional musicians – blending modes nicely to further enforce the creative spirit of the session, and mostly focusing on the instrumentation, but also occasionally offering a nice vocal as well. Titles are all originals, written over the course of Santos' lifetime – and titles include "Paraiso", "Outra Coisa", "Agora Eu Sei", "Ricaom", "Saudade De Jacques", "Cleonix", "Felipe", "Carroussel", and "Samba Diamante". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
