CD (Item 578800) Trans Air (Puerto Rico), Early 70s — Condition: New Copy

Plenty funky down in the West Indies – more than enough to keep this third volume as strong as the previous two! There's loads of wonderful bits here – from steel band funk to tropical-styled rhythms to heavy grooves that are hardly what you'd expect to be coming from the islands back in the 70s – a wonderful discovery in music that's got our ears plenty happy! We'd never be able to track down most of these tunes on our own – and we're grateful to the folks at Trans Air for coming up with so many sweet funky numbers in one power-packed compilation. Titles include "Sandy Beach" by Johnny Hackworth's Caribbean Sound, "Make It Funky" by Silvertons, "Midnight Man" by Earl Rodney, "Do Your Thing" by Trinidad & Tobago Steel All Stars, "Cissy Strut" by Trinidad Steel Drummers, "90 Percent Of Me Is You" by Amral's Trinidad Cavaliers, "Calypso Rock" by Original Tropicana Steel Band, "2001" by Life, and "The Devil's Out Tonight" by Carl McKnight's Sweat & Steel Drum Band.  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
