Bouki Ac Malice
CD (Item 605077) Rotel, Early 80s — Condition: New Copy
These DeJean brothers really know how to groove together – working in a warm blend of modern Haitian rhythms, with some great horn flourishes over the top! Some of the tunes have that bright vibe you'd expect from Haitian music – but others show some deeper roots, too – especially some traces of African origins that really help deepen the record overall! A few points have this excellent vibe that almost feels like some of the best West African culture-crossing sort of experiments – touches of funk and Latin mixed in with Caribbean impulses – in grooves that make good use of electric piano, horns, and guitar. Titles include "Mots Creoles", "Qu'Est-Ce Que La Vie", "Bouki Ac Malice", and "Zott". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
