Live At The Five Spot
CD (Item 558515) United Artists (Japan), 1959 — Condition: New Copy
A tremendous live set from Randy Weston – and one of our favorite early albums by him! The set has Weston working in very Monk-like territory – not just musically, but at the legendary Five Spot Cafe – where he's leading a septet that includes some great work by Coleman Hawkins, hitting those arch-modern notes he forged so nicely with Monk! Other players include Brock Peters, Kenny Dorham, and Roy Haynes – and the set list includes some wonderful Weston numbers, done in long versions. Titles include "High Fly", "Where", "Beef Blues Stew", "Spot Five Blues", and "Lisa Lovely". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
