Original 10" LP featuring the second set of historic duets between Brazilian guitarist Almeida and the great LA alto player Bud Shank. This is the stuff that supposedly ended up back in Brazil and inspired the wave of musicians involved in the bossa nova momement. It's been repackaged a number of times, but it's great to have in this cool original package, with a weird polarized cover featuring a strange green design of intertwining leaves. (Cover has some wear, some peeled spots, a spot of tape residue in one corner, and some light stains.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Pacific Jazz, 1966. Very Good Gatefold
A hard and heavy side from Buddy, and true to his reputation and the title of the LP, he comes out swinging! The set features a top notch mid 60s group, and from the sound of the numbers on this set, ol' Buddy did need to hand out any of his famous lectures on the bus afterwards, with some crisp ... Flute 'N Oboe
Pacific Jazz, 1956. Very Good
Goofy cover, but like Shank's various reed projects, it works pretty well. Bob Cooper conducts a small string section, and joins Shank – who's playing flute– on Oboe. Howard Roberts' guitar jazzes the thing up a bit, as the band bounces through 9 tracks, including "Gypsy In My ... LP, Vinyl record album

Pacific Jazz, 1963. Near Mint-
A real hard burner, and one of the few albums issued under the name of Clifford Scott – the legendary Texas tenorman who rose to fame in the Bill Doggett combo! The style here is very much in the Doggett mode – short, romping tunes that mix together equal parts jazz and R&B – ... LP, Vinyl record album

An early moment of genius from the young Clare Fischer – one of his first sets for a larger ensemble, and the start of years of great work to come! Stan Getz With Laurindo Almeida
Verve, 1963. Very Good Gatefold
One of the best of the Stan Getz bossa nova sessions – and a record that features the great Laurindo Almeida on guitar – playing with more virtuosity than either Charlie Byrd or Joao Gilberto did on their collaborations with Getz! The record's got a driving rhythm section, with lots of ... LP, Vinyl record album

Prestige, 1957. Very Good-
One of Ammons' classic blowing sessions for Prestige, with an all-star lineup that includes Art Farmer, Jackie McLean, Mal Waldron, and Kenny Burrell.
