Sound Advice
CD (Item 535919) Shanachie, 2011 — Condition: New Copy
Patti Austin's been at it for plenty of years – but she's always been one of those soul singers who never lets it drop – always turning out top-shelf work, and always with that mature mix of jazz inspirations and soulful expressions that made her a star from the start! This set's got Patti's great vocals set amidst some warm backings that are mighty nice – way less commercial overall than some of Austin's music from years back, even though things are totally tight overall. Greg Phillinganes handles a lot of the arrangements here – and he's always got a great way of bringing an a-game while still keeping his soul – a balance that really helps Patti come across great on this one. Titles include "By The Grace Of God", "Round & Round", "Let Em In", "You Can't Always Get What You Want", "Lean On Me", "Give It Up", "Enjoy The Silence", and "You Gotta Be". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
