Beautiful Persian pop from Faegheh Atashin, aka Googoosh (alternately, Gougoush)– and like some of the best, adventurous pop music from around the world at the the time, it's steeped in myriad styles – from emotionally string-laden to funky and danceable! Googoosh is a genuine cultural icon in the realm of period Iranian pop music, but even with that status, some of her most amazing music is stunningly rare. Finders Keepers focuses a bit on the rare stuff for this incredible set – all from the early to med 70s – and it's one of their best ever releases. We don't speak the language, but there's no mistaking the genuine soul at the center of the songs. Really great stuff! Includes "Shekayat", "Talagh", "Mano Tou", "Pishkesh", "Mano Gonjishkaye Khooneh", "Digeh Geryeh Delo Van Menikoneh", "Gharibe Ashena" and more.  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Great electronics from the Indian scene of the 80s – music that's a lot warmer and more evocative than you might guess from the "robotic" in the title – thanks to plenty of roots in the Kollywood soundtrack scene! The instrumentation is often spare, but still echoes the ... LP, Vinyl record album
KS Chithra with Ilaiyaraaja
Finders Keepers (UK), Mid 80s-Early 90s. New Copy 2LP
Sprightly, modernist Kollywood pop from the mid 80s – beautifully sung by KS Chithra, with the boundary-busting sounds and arrangements of Ilaiyaraaja! The songs are wonderful, time-honored regional pop sounds – traditionally-constructed songs blended with some 80s studio touches ... LP, Vinyl record album
Rough Guide, 1970s. New Copy
Nothing rough here – as the set's one of the smoothest we've ever heard in this legendary series – a tight collection of vintage tracks that really serve up an African take on the sound of American disco! Rhythms are tight and quick, but the overall approach is still very much in the ... LP, Vinyl record album
Guerssen (Spain), 1976. New Copy (reissue)
Fantastic funk from Baris Manco – a set of freaky Turkish tunes that step out with an amazing feel right from the start! There's plenty of Arabesk elements in the instrumentation – as you'd hear from his contemporaries on the scene – but there's also some western elements too, as ... LP, Vinyl record album
Pharaway Sounds (Spain), 1974. New Copy
Very hip sounds from a very hip-looking cat – Cem Karaca, a Turkish contemporary of Baris Manco and Erkin Koray – heard here on a really great second album from the 70s! Some of the best cuts here mix in exotic Turkish roots with modern psychedelia – a sound that's set to vocals ... LP, Vinyl record album
Yeni Bir Gun
Guerssen (Spain), 1979. New Copy Gatefold
An overlooked late 70s album from the great Baris Manco – one that has the Turkish experimentalist unlocking even more strange corners of his music – finding a new way to combine eastern and western elements in his sound! The album's every bit as edgey and compelling as Manco's earlier ... LP, Vinyl record album
First Word (UK), 2013. New Copy
The horns here are plenty free – soaring over the top of some tight Afro Funk rhythms that are mixed with loads of great keyboard parts too! The vibe is a bit different than the usual Fela-inspired combo of this type – a bit fresher and more contemporary, with this fluid feeling that ... LP, Vinyl record album
Strut (UK), Late 60s/1970s. New Copy 2 LPs & CD
A cool collection of funky grooves from the Caribbean – tracks that take a strong influence from American soul and funk, then blend it heavily with hip rhythms from the islands! Analog Africa (Germany), Mid 70s. New Copy 2LP Gatefold
One of the most incredible African collections we've ever heard – almost more amazing than the African Scream Contest set from the same label! Nite Flights
Columbia/Tizona, 1978. New Copy (reissue)
The last and the best of the three comeback albums that the Walker Brothers cut during their brief return to pop in the mid 70s – a set that already shows the newly-revived group coming apart at the seems, but in a really cool way that makes for one heck of an interesting record! Twistin Rumble, Late 50s/Early 60s. New Copy
Plenty of twang, plenty of raunch, and plenty of weird and wild singles from the underground scene of the late 50s and early 60s!
