A contemporary treasure from the region and time spanning diggers at Dust To Digital – glorious church recordings captured in the Christian congregations of Ghana's capital city of Accra in 2008! We've loved each of Dust To Digital's projects to date – always shining a bright light on sounds and cultures from around the world – and there's something especially wonderful about getting to experience fairly recent material such as this – a reminder of how rare opportunities to experience far away cultures' music can be even with modern technologies. Recorded and edited by Calpin Hoffman-Williamson, it features sparely soaring solo and chorus vocal numbers and feverish backing instrumentation, from electric guitar, woozy organ and tambourines to heavy drums and percussion. 25 tracks in all: "Adoration Prayer" by the Christ Believer's Ministry and more, "Good Things For Ghana" by the Family Worship Centre, "Yewo Fawohodi" and more by Divine Healer's Church: Ashaiman Assembly, "No Politics In Heaven" by Great Grace Church, "Claps From Power Miracle" by the Power Miracle Chapel Int and many more.  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Incredibly funky work from Manu Dibango – a set that's easily as great as his classic Soul Makossa album – but which is a lot more obscure overall! The work's got a fiercely-jamming quality all the way through – lots of rumbling percussion at the bottom, and also a bit of ... CD

Pretty amazing music from Morocco – sounds that are definitely as raw as promised in the title, but which also go way past what you might expect as music from 45s! First off, the tunes are much longer than usual for a 7" single – as most numbers are well over 5 minutes in length, ... CD

Rare 45s from Yemen – rawly, though crystal clear in both sound and emotion – a real eye-opener of a set compiled by Chris Menist! We've had little chance to hear Yemeni music of this period or any other – and judging from this set, these are sounds we want to explore and ... CD
