Round About
CD (Item 518267) Rearward (Italy), 2010 — Condition: New Copy
Nothing round about here – as the groove is tight, soulful, and right on the money – a killer set of modern jazz, but with all the classic touches we've come to expect from the Rearward label! The group's led by trumpeter Andy Gravish – who has a bold, well-blown sound – and other instrumentation includes tenor and soprano sax from Max Ionata, piano from Luca Mannutza, bass from Luca Bulgarelli, and drums from Marcello Di Leonardo – a combo who's been well-honed by playing together for years, wrapped around a set of great originals penned by Mannutza! Some cuts have a nice modal undercurrent – just what you'd expect in the Schema/Rearward world – and others open up with some really lovely colors and tones that come from great interplay between the horns of Gravish and Inonata. Titles include "Night Thoughts"," Hi Fi", "21 Marzo", "Jungle Juice", "Turning Tables", "Two Little Dogs", and "La Giostra". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
