Willis Jackson's most fantastic album from this period, and one of his toughest to find! Features the excellent long groover "Nuthern Like Thuther'n" – which has an amazing spinning bossa groove that will never let you down – plus some other groovers like "Pool Shark" and "Stuffin". The group's totally tight, totally hard, and features his best accompanists – Carl Wilson on organ, and Pat Azzara on guitar. Very deep dope groove to this one! (Silver & black label pressing, with Van Gelder stamp. Cover has small splits on the top and bottom seams.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Bitches Brew
Columbia, 1969. Very Good 2 LP Gatefold
One of the few cases in jazz where an oft-played classic still resonates with power! The record itself is a key cap to Miles Davis' already-groundbreaking years of the 60s – a bold step forward, not just for his nascent electric sound, but also for jazz in general – and the benchmark ... Inside Straight
Fantasy, 1973. Very Good Gatefold
One of Cannonball Adderley's late funky sessions for Fantasy – and a record that still features some mighty heavy production from David Axelrod! The album's got that core groove that Axe and Cannon first crafted together at Capitol in the 60s – but the sound here has some definite 70s ... LP, Vinyl record album

Coldwater Flat
Blue Note, Late 60s. Very Good Gatefold
A brilliant pairing of the Three Sounds trio with the larger arrangements of reedman Oliver Nelson – easily one of the most soulful bandleaders of the 60s, and a talent who really helps open up the trio's groove! The piano of Gene Harris is nice and sharp – played with a soulful sock ... LP, Vinyl record album
