Spectrum (plus The Electric Boogaloo Song)
CD (Item 18452) Prestige, 1969 — Condition: New Copy
2 of Cedar Walton's funkier albums for Prestige, released back to back on one CD! Spectrum has a nice hard piano sound, and feautres some very tight grooves that sound as if they might have been lifted from a mid 60s Herbie Hancock Blue Note LP. Titles on that one include the groovy "Higgins Holler", plus "Jake's Milkshakes" and "Spectrum". The second album on the CD is the incredibly rare Electric Boogaloo Song, and it's got Walton playing some electric piano with a group that includes Blue Mitchell and Clifford Jordan (who also appear on Spectrum). Titles on that set include "The Electric Boogaloo Song", "Impressions Of Scandinavia", and "Ugetsu", which Walton wrote and performed when he was with the Jazz Messengers. Very nice stuff, and some rare material that we never see on wax! © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
