Beautifully moody work from the quintet of trumpeter Paolo Fresu – based around a set of compositions by the group's pianist, Roberto Cipelli! There's an airy, contemplative style here that shows the strong trumpet legacy left by Chet Baker upon the Italian scene – but the overall tone is also touches with a sense of warmth and color that's clearly Fresu's own, and which is helped tremendously by the soprano and tenor work of Tino Tracanna. The set features 15 beautiful original tunes by Cipelli – and titles include "Visions", "Echoes 1", "The Ride", "Variazione 12", "The Silent Trade", "In Viaggio", "Spazi Provvisori 1", and "Hush Please".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
