A Curva Da Cintura (DVD)
DVD (Item 596948) Samba Films (Brazil), 2011 — Condition: New Copy
A documentary on the Curva Da Cintura project from the always-creative Arnaldo Antunes – a trio effort that has him working with Toumani Diabate and Edgard Scandurra – in a pan-Atlantic set of sounds that's really amazing! Antunes' creative approach to songwriting is very much in place – but it's also inflected by an earthier element than before, given the presence of the two other artists – kora and percussion from Diabate, and some great acoustic guitar from Scandurra – both of which really warm up the tunes, and help unlock a whole new side of Arnaldo's vocals! The album was recorded both in Mali and Brazil – and the set documents that, with images from director Dora Jobim – plus a bonus clip of the tune "Bamako's Blues"! Subtitles in English, Portuguese, and French. (DVD is NTSC coded, All Region.) © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
