I Got High/River
7-inch (Item 623180) Bloodshot, 2012 — Condition: New Copy
A great single from Chicago's JC Brooks & The Uptown Sound – the Want More album standout "I Got High" and the excellent non-album track "River" on the flip! "I Got High" has more of 60s soul rave-up vibe than you might guess from the song's title – they're not sitting on a couch all bleary-eyed here! JC's vocal dexterity is mighty impressive on this one, the groove is energetic, and there's some nice horns in the mix, too. "River" is a perfect flipside track, because it shows a different side of the group – and it's an equally strong one – in a deep, slow-rolling, gospel soul-inspired groove.
