Detroit, Michigan – Original D Town Recordings 1965 to 1968
CD (Item 420960) Soul Tay Shus/Tuff City, Mid/Late 60s — Condition: New Copy
A great set of tracks – the first we've ever seen dedicated to The Fabulous Peps, a sock-soul vocal trio from Detroit – who recorded for the D-Town and other labels in the mid to late 60s. At some level, The Peps had an approach that was similar to The Impressions – but at another, they were much harder, and more in a Northern Soul groove – with lots of bass and guitar driving their tunes along at a pretty fast clip that must have been great on the dancefloor! The set features 18 tunes by the group – and titles include "Thinkin About You", "Detroit Michigan", "I Can't Get Right", "She's Going To Leave You", "I Love You", "I'll Never Be The Same Again", "Why Are You Blowing My Mind", "My Love Looks Good On You", and "With These Eyes". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
