Cool Heat
CD (Item 558503) Liberty (Japan), 1960 — Condition: New Copy
An album of straight jazz vocals from Hawaiian singer Ethel Azama – an artist who's perhaps better known for her more exotic Liberty album with Martin Denny, but who's working here in a much straighter mode with backings from the great Marty Paich! Paich is at the height of his powers here – using that warmly jazzy approach that could make just about any singer great – so when combined with the strength of Ethel's vocals, the record makes for a very nice sound all the way through! The "cool heat" in the title comes from the fact that some of the arrangements here have a nice 50s LA jazz component (complete with a few solos) – yet still swing with enough heat to groove! Titles include a great version of "You Smell So Good", plus "Daybreak", "All I Need Is You", "You're So Bad For Me", "Time After Time", "I'm Glad There Is You", and "Like Someone In Love". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
