A really cool spy soundtrack from the Italian 60s scene – put together by Piero Umiliani with lots of jazzy touches! The music here is a nice change from the more obvious, more familiar American spy modes of the time – and often uses some cool vibes mixed with horns, to create this blend of tension and action that flows together wonderfully! The tunes are really evocative – almost little mini-movies on their own, even without the film – and there's a core theme that's very catchy – never dominating the soundtrack, but showing up in little bursts to tie the whole thing together. 20 tracks in all, great sound, and the package includes a little fold-out movie poster! Bon Voyage
Beat (Italy), 1975. New Copy
Great grooves from Piero Umiliani – a sweet 70s session of sound library material, served up in a warm blend of funky rhythms and mighty nice keyboards! Hammond is in the lead on most numbers – echoing those cool odd phrasing styles that Umiliani used in the late 60s, but given more of ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1965. New Copy
A very goofy film – as you'd no doubt guess from the cover image – scored with some equally mad music from the great Piero Umiliani! The music's got a lot more exotic touches than you'd usually hear from Umiliani – almost echoes of the blood and sandals genre of Italian scoring ... CD
Intrigo A Los Angeles
Beat (Italy), 1964. New Copy
Jazzy goodness from the wonderful Piero Umiliani – a set that's got some sweet instrumental touches from Chet Baker on trumpet, plus piano from Umiliani himself! The overall feel is very much in an early 60s crime jazz style – that best Italian groove before more mod and bossa-styled ... CD
Le Ruffian
Beat (Italy), 1983. New Copy
A very unusual soundtrack from Ennio Morricone – scored for an adventure drama starring Lino Ventura as Le Ruffian! For the music, Morricone is sort of filling the shoes of Francois De Roubaix – who composed previously for the film's director Jose Giovanni, but had passed away before ... CD
Digitmovies (Italy), 1957. New Copy
A mix of old school soundtrack modes from Giorgio Fabor – that great blend of jazzy instrumentation and more sentimental modes that you'd find in Italian films of the 50s! The style's a bit less lean than Italian modes of the next decade, but still very expressive in a way that's different ... CD
Quartet (Spain), 1970. New Copy
A groovy erotic film score by Piero Umiliani – his soundtrack for 1970's Le Isole Dell'Amore – and it's a wonderfully arranged one by the maestro! The film is apparently Island-set, so you can expect some raw percussion and a sunny vibe overall – but it's actually got a lot more ... CD
Beat (Italy), 1978. New Copy
A wild one from Italian soundtrack composer Piero Umiliani – a set that definitely lives up to the disco promise of the title, but which still has some of the cool playful touches of Umiliani's work in movies too! The record may well be the funkiest that Piero ever cut – and was done ... CD
Beat (Italy), 1966. New Copy
A driving 60s spy soundtrack from Piero Umiliani – and a perfect bridge between his earlier jazz work and his groovier styles to come! The album's almost in a crime jazz mode – ala American work of a few years before – but there's also some sweet touches that definitely mark it ... CD
Quella Sporca Storia Nel West
Beat (Italy), 1968. New Copy
A really beautiful little soundtrack from Francesco De Masi – scored with a depth of feeling that's really surprising, and which goes way past the obvious! There's some beautiful woodwind passages that arc and turn with a quality that's almost fragile – yet bold enough to paint a vivid ... CD
La Colt E La Mia Legge
Digitmovies (Italy), 1965. New Copy
Spare, moody and evocative Italian western film score grooves from Carlo Savina – with a sound built around an acoustic guitar and revolving accompaniment of trumpet, woozy organ, harmonica and occasional orchestral heft! It’s cool stuff, especially in the quieter moments, which are ... CD
Beat (Italy), 1979/1990. New Copy
A pair of weird soundtracks from Italian soundtrack heavy Fabio Fizzi – the stylistically sprawling music for Zombi 2 (released in America as Zombie) and some later compositions for Un Gatto Nel Cervello! The Zombi grooves are wildly unpredictable – from neo Carribbean inflections, to ... CD
Porno Holocaust
Beat (Italy), 1980. New Copy
Ouch – what a cover! The image is so graphic, it makes the grooves on the record sound tame by comparison! Yet given that the soundtrack's done by Nico Fidenco – well-known for his sexy work of the 70s – there's plenty of great stuff going on here – a mix of Italian and ... CD
