A dramatic score for this all-star, big-budget film about international intrigue – with a setting that runs from Red China to the Vatican, and a set of stars that includes Anthony Quinn, Oskar Werner, David Janssen, and Laurence Olivier. The tracks are all fairly straight orchestral ones, but handled with the usual North complexity and talent. The set's packaged in a very nice gatefold cover with a painted back cover montage – and titles include "Rome", "The Pope Advises Dr Faber", "Coronation", "Kiril's Loneliness", "The Election", and "Arrival Of The Cardinals". (MCA Classics pressing. Cover has a cutout notch.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

A dreamy little soundtrack by Piero Piccioni – not as mad as some of his more famous Italian work, but with plenty of nice touches! One of the greatest jazz soundtracks of all time!
