A great batch of grooves from the enigmatic Gary Davis! It's hard to say what's on here, given the packaging – which has the same homemade quality as other Gary Davis/Chocolate Star releases – but that's also part of the fun of the record! The set's not really an EP – as it's almost as long as most soul/funk albums from the 70s – and it feels as if it's made out of older Gary Davis grooves, remixed with some slight new elements contributed by guest stars who include Greg Wilson, James Pants, and others! There's a messed-up feel to much of the music – muddy funk, electrified beats, and more – almost a Stones Throw take on P&P-styled grooves, with really wonderful results.
