Rio Breaks – Original Soundtrack

A nice little record – but quite different from the drum-heavy spectacular you might expect from the "breaks" in the title! Instead, the music is richly acoustic – often a nice blend of guitar and percussion, played in these warmly harmonic modes that almost recall the American acoustic underground of the post-folk generation, but which also has strong links to the rich legacy of Brazilian guitarists from the bossa years onward! A few tracks are electric – almost updates of an older surf music mode, to fit the theme of the movie – and although most of the work here is by Jeff Kite, there's a few other numbers added in to complete the soundtrack. Titles include "Dawn In Rio", "Bossa Groove", "Diving In The Sea", "Big Wave Ridaz", "The Walk Uphill", "Timelapse", and "Arpoador Beach" by Jeff Kite – plus "Take Me Back To Piaui" by Juca Chaves, "Berimbeiss" by Lucio Gomes Querioz, and "Montagem Do Surfista Avao" by Nego Mocambique. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
