Folk rock into country roots – a great collection of work from little-remembered mid 60s Capitol act Hearts & Flowers! The group have a Byrds-era sound that brings together folksy styles and new influences from country music – an approach that would be done much more slickly later in the LA scene, but which is presented here with an honest, earnest approach that's really wonderful – a sound that's often a fair bit earthier than work by The Byrds or Graham Parsons, but which also has some occasional sunshine pop touches as well, especially in the trio's great harmonies. Titles include "Rain Rain", "View From Ward 3", "Now Is The Time", "Save Some Time", "10,000 Sunsets", and "Reason To Believe".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

One of the most perfectly formed albums ever recorded by Tom Rapp's enigmatic group Pearls Before Swine – a record that does an incredible job of skirting between Rapp's earthy sense of the planet's passing, and his ambitions for larger forums of expression. An incredibly beautiful album from Pearls Before Swine – one that uses light orchestrations to create a baroquely folksy sort of feel – easily elevating the album past previous efforts, into classic territory we'd rank with the best from Nick Drake or Leonard Cohen! One of Kim Fowley's best records as an artist – and way up there in greatness with some of the best he produced for everyone else, too! Kim Fowley's first proper solo album to be issued in the US – by Capitol Records, no less – and it's just as wild and bugged out as you'd expect! The songs are tight little post-garage, pre-punk stormers on one level – but Kim's guttural, growly vocals on this record bring about ... LP, Vinyl record album

A beautiful early record from singer Bill Fay – recorded in a baroque brilliance that rivals the late 60s work of Scott Walker! Electronic sounds, but pretty darn catchy too – and not nearly as dark as you might guess from the title! The duo have a sound that's wonderfully perky at points – not poppy, but all-abristle with some cool analogue elements that crackle nicely next to the catchy vocals, and sweetly ...
