Steve Beresford in a freely improvised mode – playing piano alongside drummer Matt Wilson, and a great change from some of his more familiar, more conventional vocal albums! The set's a great reminder that Beresford can be a brilliant improviser when he wants to be – with a depth of playing that belies his decades of experience on the European scene – a really unique voice on the piano that is a fair bit more sensitive than some of his contemporaries, even when clearly quite free and open. Drummer Wilson seems to really get Beresford's energy, and the pair work together well on the album's three long tracks – the lovely "Elvington", plus "Reculver" and "Dahinda". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
