Spirit Music
LP (Item 606547) Cadence, 1983 — Condition: New Copy
A really well-chosen title – given that the album is one of the most spiritual sides we've ever heard from Marilyn Crispell – thanks to a trio that also features Billy Bang on violin and John Betsch on drums! Bang is wonderful here – with that perfect approach to the violin that's unlike any of his contemporaries – almost a long-sung mode that stretches out beautifully to wrap around the rest of the group – in ways that are quite similar to his excellent Black Saint recordings. Betsch is powerful on drums – easily matching Crispell's frenzy on the piano – and Wes Brown also joins the group on guitar for one track. Titles include "Rounds", "For Atsuko", "Stoic", and "Spirit Music". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
