CD (Item 589747) Candid, 1952 — Condition: New Copy
The Duke is on the air – Flying Home here with some early 50s appearances at Chicago's Blue Note – originally broadcast by NBC! Prime early 50s Duke Ellington and his Orchestra – performing popular material from the time as well as some great versions of lesser remembered compositions. This 1953 formation of the group features Clark Terry, Ray Nace and more trumpets, Quentin Jackson, Britt Woodman and Juan Tizol on trombones, the great Paul Gonsalves, Jimmy Hamilton and more saxes, Wendell Marshall on bass and Louie Bellson on drums.
