Chris Jasper — Superbad ... LP 0.49

A wickedly wonderful solo set from Chris Jasper – cut in a mode that's right up there with the best 80s material he did with the Isley Brothers! Jasper's voice sounds surprisingly great in the lead – maybe not as powerful as that of Ernie Isley, but with a sense of individuality that really makes the album stand out – and that great mix of righteousness and warmth that made his previous collaborations such classics. There's a bit more of a focus on the groove at times – never overdone, just maybe more keyboard lines alongside the lyrics – as you'd guess from Chris' role in the previous group. All tunes are Jasper originals, and titles include "Superbad", "One Time Love", "Like I Do", "Earthquake", "The Son Of Man", "Dance For The Dollar", and "My Soul Train".
