CD (Item 605067) Montuno, 1996 — Condition: New Copy

Great old school grooves from Bongo-Logic – a contemporary group, but one with a great ear for the charanga sound of the early 60s! The percussion here is more than worth the price of admission – a tight flurry of congas, timbales, and bongos – all setting the stage for some sweet flute lines from Art Webb, violin from Harry Scorzo, piano from Joe Rotondi, and some other great work on guiro, bass, and clave! The tunes have a bit of lead vocals from Freddy Crespo, but as with most charanga combos, there's plenty of room for instrumental passages as well – on titles that include "Just Friendly", "Bebop & Roses", "Maria Ya Sabe Bailar", "Poncho Se Va", and "Mwanga".  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
