Billy Preston's getting some really wonderful help on this mid 70s set – assistance from a cool array of talents that includes Syreeta, Stevie Wonder, Shuggie Otis, and Keni Burke! Most of these guests artists only appear on a song or two each, but they really help Preston expand his sound from the past – and move into some of the hipper territory that each of the guests was laying down on their own records of the time. Billy's not trying to push himself as strongly as before, and in a way it's almost like he's laying back to take a few lessons from others – still somewhat righteous and gospel-influenced in his groove, but also somewhat more restrained and moving towards mellower soul at points. Titles include "Fancy Lady", "Found The Love", "That's Life", "Song Of Joy", "It's My Pleasure", "All Of My Life", and "I Can't Stand It". (Spine has a spot of tape & a small rip. Cover has a cutout hole & some light wear.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Shine On
A&M, 1980. Very Good
Massively solid boogie work from Jeffrey Osborne and LTD – still grooving beautifully at the end of the 70s, and working here with top-shelf production from Bobby Martin! The set's got that buoyant LTD groove that was a perfect foil for Osborne's soaring vocals – a sound that never ... LP, Vinyl record album

Sweet Bird
A&M, 1976. Very Good+
Sweet grooving from Lani Hall – a record that's a long way from her roots in Brasil 66, but which has some surprisingly nice touches at times! Herb Alpert produced – and handled arrangements along with Lani and Michel Colombier – and it may well be Colombier's highly rhythmic ... LP, Vinyl record album

Al Green Is Love
Hi Records, 1975. Very Good
Heavenly soul doesn't get any more heavenly than this! Al's at the height of his powers here, and even though there aren't as many hits on the record, it's still got plenty of nice moments, and the usual stone cold Hi Records soul groove that works beautifully with Green's warmly compressed vocals. ...
