Live On The Air
CD (Item 479537) D&D, 1974 — Condition: New Copy
Not a concert date, but rare studio work from the legendary Vince Guaraldi – playing here in trio formation on both acoustic piano and Fender Rhodes! The tracks are all nice and long – recorded in relaxed, open ways in the studio of Wally Heider – Vince really hitting some of those well-crafted lines we love so much, but don't always get to hear in such extended formation during these later years! As you might imagine, the Fender Rhodes tunes are our favorite – and include a sublime reading of "There's No Time For Love Charlie Brown", plus "Then Came You", "One Two Three", "On Green Dolphin Street", and a tune billed as "I Could Write A Book", but which comes off more with the melody of "Old Folks". But the acoustic tracks are pretty wonderful too – and include versions of "Eleanor Rigby/Linus & Lucy", "Cast Your Fate To The Wind", and the great "Little Birdie". There's also a bit of studio patter on the set, but never too much – just Vince kind of introducing a few tunes, or talking with the trio members – Seward McCain on bass and Elliot Zigman on drums. © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
