Psychedelic folk rock from the Turkish scene of the 70s – a real criss-crossing of styles, carried off with strong emotive effect by protest singer Selda! There's a powerful sound here that's completely without referent, but immediately gripping – a blend of familiar and strange elements that really gives the record an other-worldly quality, and which is further enhanced by the echoey production used throughout! As with other excellent reissues of Turkish music in this series, the album is supported by notes in English, historical photos, and a number of bonus tracks from earlier singles – an amazing document of an artist who was never that well known outside her native land, partly because the repressive government forbid her to travel for many years! CD features 20 tracks in all – and titles include "Bundan Sonra", "Utan Utan", "Karaoglan", "Gardasim Hasso", "Maden Dagi", "Bulbul", "Gesi Baglarinda", "Cemberimde Gul Oya", and "Tatli Dillim".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Turkuola/Pharaway Sounds (Spain), 1979. New Copy
Selda packs a heck of a punch on this late 70s set – a record that's still got all the wonderful elements of her previous three albums – that unique mix of folksy roots, protest themes, and nicely trippy production! Selda's holding an electrified version of the baglama on the front ... CD

SFP/Lion, 1974. New Copy Gatefold
Totally wonderful sounds from Laurance Vanay (aka Jacqueline Thibault) – an album that's heavy on keyboard sounds throughout – including these really moody Hammond organ lines that are handled in a style that's a lot closer to work on Fender Rhodes! The album's neither jazz nor prog ... CD

International Artists/Snapper (UK), 1967. New Copy
One of the grooviest albums on the legendary International Artists label – a set that's as psychedelic and experimental as most of the others in the imprint, but also pretty darn tuneful as well! Golden Dawn have a nicely stretched-out approach to their music – one that lets the songs ... CD

Recent work from ex-Fleetwood Mac man Peter Green – two albums recorded in the 21st Century, but both showing that strong commitment to blues and roots that made Green's years with the group so unique! Peter's still a mighty strong guitar player – and backings are relatively ... CD
Parlophone/Fresh (South Africa), 1971. New Copy
Rare South African power rock from Suck, who definitely do not suck – fierce, hard charging, heavily rhythmic jams with straight up killer drums and rumbling groove that we'd put up there with some of the more raucous stuff that came out of the Haight Ashbury scene! The bass, drums & ... CD

World Psychedelia (Korea), 1972. New Copy

Numera/World Psychedelia, 1974. New Copy
One of the mellower records from the Turkish scene of the 70s – a laidback and almost folk funk sort of record – done with some great gravelly vocals and really wonderful acoustic guitar! The style is almost similar to some of the hippest French titles from the same time – the ... CD

Really amazing early work from the team of Dennis Lambert and Craig Nuttycombe – a duo we'll love forever for their sublime At Home album on A&M, heard here in a huge set of demo recordings before that record! The tracks are hardly the unformed stuff of most demos – and given that ... CD

Harvest/Esoteric (UK), 1972. New Copy
A very unusual second album from Chris Spedding – one that came out quite a few years after his first solo set, and definitely shows the result of Spedding's countless work on other rock, jazz, and soul sessions! There's still a rootsy, personal feel to the music – but there's also a ... CD
