Excellent 2 LP compilation, put together and remastered in the late 70s, of sides cut by Miles for the Prestige label. There's some remarkable performances from some of his greatest LPs from that early period, like Bags' Groove, when Miles was still playing smoldering bop and his sidemen include Max Roach, Lucky Thompson, Sonny Rollins, Monk and Kenny Clarke. 13 tracks in all: "Tune Up", "Solar", "Walkin", "Blue N Boogie", "Bag's Groove", "When Lights Are Low", "Four", "Old Devil Moon", "You Don't Know What Love Is", "Love Me Or Leave Me", "I'll Remember April", "But Not For Me" and "The Man I Love". (Cover has some wear & initials in marker written multiple times.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Columbia/Mobile Fidelity, 1969. Sealed 2LP Gatefold (reissue)
One of the few cases in jazz where an oft-played classic still resonates with power! The record itself is a key cap to Miles Davis' already-groundbreaking years of the 60s – a bold step forward, not just for his nascent electric sound, but also for jazz in general – and the benchmark ... Decoy
Columbia, 1984. Very Good+ Gatefold
The decoy here might be in the rhythms, which are often electric, but still played live – handled by Robert Irving III on many tracks, with a cool 80s fusion sound that's mighty nice! The style of the album's a nice change from the Miles groove of the 70s – a bit leaner, with almost a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Prestige, Late 50s. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
A 70s 2LP set that brings together the albums Cookin and Relaxin – both of them late 50s sessions cut with the Red Garland Trio and tenor work by John Coltrane! The sides are as classic as you can get for both Miles on Prestige and late 50s Trane – handled with an easy groove, and a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Columbia, 1961. Very Good
Legendary early live work from Miles Davis – one of the first examples on record of the way that Davis could really stretch out in a concert setting! The music's a bit more straight ahead than later live dates, but still pretty open and exploratory – and in addition to Davis' sparkling ... LP, Vinyl record album

Jazz Track
Columbia, Late 50s. Very Good-
Although not actually a proper album – this is still one of the greatest Miles Davis albums of all time! Side one features 10 tracks from Miles' amazing soundtrack to the film Ascenseur Pour L'Echafaud – with excellent work by French players Barney Wilen, Rene Urtreger, and Pierre ... Columbia, 1973. Very Good 2LP Gatefold
Massive double-length Miles from the early 70s – some of his most inventive long form work of the time, and some of his funkiest too! The album stretches out with almost an improvised jamming sort of quality – tunes that begin sparely, then have the musicians stepping in as the groove ... LP, Vinyl record album

Wild Fire
Prestige, 1972. Very Good
One of Rusty Bryant's classics! The record's a monster – very much in the style of his Fire Eater classic, as you might guess from the title! The tracks here are all long, open, and rock-solid – held firmly in place by some incredible drums from Idris Muhammad – and featuring a ... LP, Vinyl record album

Quintet/Live!
Prestige, 1967. Very Good
A great set of soul jazz from McPherson – recorded live, with a rolling groove that's in the Blue Note mode of the mid 60s – but even more open overall! The group's got a lot of hometown talent from McPherson's native Detroit – including Barry Harris on piano, Lonnie Hillyer on ... LP, Vinyl record album

Prestige, 1968. Good+
A great lost groover from Groove! The album's a tough one to find – and it features some tight funky jazz arrangements by Dave Blume, who also played congas on the session. There's a twin-guitar component to the group – with Wally Richardson on lead guitar, and Steve Wolfe on rhythm. ... LP, Vinyl record album
