LP (Item 385284) Deja Vu (Italy), Late 60s — Condition: New Copy

Frank's definitely got a new sound on this album – one that's even groovier than before! The record still has Hernandez hitting that hard New York Latin groove that make all his 60s sets so nice – but he's also working here in a more instrumental mode, and one that's got more than a few jazzy touches! The placement of the saxophones on the cover is totally key, as there's plenty of searing sax on the session – bringing in a nice Latin Soul component that we haven't heard in Frank's other work. There's plenty of boogaloo and shing-a-ling numbers on the set – next to some straighter Latin numbers – and titles include "Chocos Soul", "Sabroso Boogaloo", "Arriva", "Mal Camino", "Mercy Mercy Mercy", "Fatback", "Boogaloo Ye Ye", and "Jupi Boogaloo". (Heavy vinyl, heavy cover – and a beautiful reissue that's totally worth the price!)  © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc.
