All Our Reasons
CD (Item 604489) ECM (Germany), 2012 — Condition: New Copy
A great record from a great group – a quartet led by drummer Billy Hart, but which features a very equal constellation of sounds from Mark Turner on tenor, Ethan Iverson on piano, and Ben Street on bass! There's a soulful, spiritual beginning to the record that's mighty nice – one of the deepest sounds we've heard from ECM in years, yet also mixed with that later ECM talent for spacing out the notes – which affords us a space in which to contemplate the subtle, individual contributions of each player as they contribute to the vibe of the session. Turner and Iverson really push things at some of the best points, giving the record a tonal complexity that really holds our interest – and titles include "Song For Balkis", "Ohnedaruth", "Tolli's Dance", "Nostalgia For The Impossible", "Old Wood", and "Nigeria". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
