Pivotal work from Stevie Wonder – an album with a depth and darkness that never would have been expected from his records of the 60s! In a way, the album's almost Stevie's What's Going On – as it's a self-penned, self-produced effort that really steps off from previous efforts – moving into mature, sophisticated, and socially conscious territory that was steeped in the new freedoms of the time. Stevie gets some great help on the set from a young Syreeta, who co-wrote most of the tracks and sings a bit of backup vocals – and who may well be responsible for some of the mature and slightly pained themes that were beginning to emerge in Wonder's love tunes. The whole thing's great – an amazing transformation throughout, and filled with great tunes that include "If You Really Love Me", "Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer", "Do Yourself A Favor", "Take Up A Course In Happiness", "Sunshine In Their Eyes", "Look Around", and "I Wanna Talk To You". (Original gatefold pressing, sealed, with all the letters on the cover! Cover has a small cutout hole.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Motown, 1963. Sealed
Early work from Stevie Wonder – recorded when he was only 11 years old, but already a whiz on a number of instruments! The grooves here definitely live up to the "jazz soul" promised in the title – as most numbers are instrumental, with a soul jazz groove that's really ... LP, Vinyl record album
Easy
Tamla, 1969. Very Good+
The last set of duets from the team of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell – and a sublime set of tracks that really stretches their partnership even further than before! It's no secret that Terrell was Marvin's favorite partner in the studio – and you can really hear his strong feeling for ... LP, Vinyl record album
Eddie Kendricks At His Best
Tamla, Early 70s. Near Mint-
Sublime groovers from Eddie's boogie period – a time when he revived his career brilliantly, by hooking a groove and helping to take Motown back onto the dancefloors! The set's filled with classic uptempo numbers – with 10 tracks in all: "Girl You Need A Change Of Mind (part ... LP, Vinyl record album
Greatest Hits – From The Beginning
Tamla, 1960s. Near Mint- 2LP Gatefold
Like the sticker on the cover says – 2 record album, 22 hit songs! This one's got just about all you'd need from the early days of Smokey & The Miracles – perfect falsetto harmony soul that shaped a generation of singers, and which was some of Motown's greatest work in the early ... Tamla, 1968. Very Good
Marvin's definitely in the groove on this set – cooking on all burners with a host of late 60s Motown hits – bad-stepping his way towards some of the more mature moments to come in the 70s! The album's probably best remembered for the cut "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" ... LP, Vinyl record album
Touch The Sky
Tamla, 1982. Near Mint-
Smooth Smokey at the height of his powers – gliding along in the quiet storm groove that he helped to invent, and still sounding surprisingly down to earth – thanks to an intimate and relaxed feel to the set! Despite the date of the album, the instrumentation is nicely restrained, and ... LP, Vinyl record album
Tamla, 1981. Very Good+
An obscure later album by Syreeta – but still a great one! The lady's moving into an 80s groove on most of these cuts – but she's still got that sweet heavenly vocal approach, very similar to Minnie Riperton, whose late style she's taking up on a number of the album's smooth, well ... Yes It's You Lady
Tamla, 1982. Very Good
A slightly more-grooving record than some of Smokey's others from the time – done in a style that rolls around in a mostly-midtempo mode. There's almost a gentle 80s groove approach at times, although some of the tunes on the set are definitely in that stone mellow love song style that was ... LP, Vinyl record album
Valerie Simpson
Tamla, 1972. Very Good+
Although Valerie Simpson's on her own as the singer here, Nick Ashford was in the studio for most of the set, helping Valerie produce and write most of the cuts on the album. The record's got kind of a hip soul sound that's more LA than Motown – and although we're not always sure it works ... LP, Vinyl record album

A&M, 1974. Near Mint-
A really wonderful album – a warm bit of brown-eyed soul from the hip LA scene of the early 70s! Daniel Valdez has a style that's part Jose Feliciano, part Tim Buckley – and since we love both of those artists a lot, you can imagine how much we like this record! He's got Jose's sweet ... De-Lite, 1975. Very Good
