Mind Of Its Own
CD (Item 456732) R2 (UK), 2007 -- Condition: New Copy
One of the most brilliant records we've heard from the Baltimore scene in a long time -- a stunning batch of funky club tracks from Karizma -- all served up with a bit more subtlety than we've come to expect from some of the other artists from the city! The grooves here are often quite stripped down and basic -- usually built around a single, simple element that's then reworked beautifully -- spun out in space with some slight jazzy inflections. Most of the best numbers have a kicked-back, midtempo groove -- one that's neither house nor downtempo, but which almost reminds us of some of the first futuristic experiments coming from London a decade ago, or Detroit in more recent years -- yet like that work, the sound of Karizma is a genre unto itself! CD features 12 titles that include "Tech This Out (part 2)", "Twyst This", "The Damn Thing", "Didn't See It Comin", "Kong", "Tha D", and "All Teched Out". © 1996-2010, Dusty Groove America, Inc. | |||||
