We have to give it up to Ice T. Aside from being one of the cornerstones of west coast and gangsta rap, he's probably the only rapper to successfully make the transition to acting (sorry Cube. . .). In fact, we'd rather watch him on TV than hear any of his later albums or singles. But we're just about ready to call this sophomore LP his best, with a sinister vibe to the tracks to match his street savy rhymes. With the title track, "I'm Your Pusher", "Heartbeat", "High Rollers", "Girls LGBNAF", "Grand Larceny", "The Syndicate", "Radio Suckers", "Soul On Ice", and 4 more if you count the intro and outro. Motown, 1989. Used
With the amazing "Fight The Power" by Public Enemy. The rest of the album's a real mish mash of other stuff, mostly R&B, including "My Fantasy" by Teddy Riley, "Never Explain Love" by Al Jarreau, "Party Hearty" by EU, "Can't Stand It" by Steel ... CD
Darkest Cloud
Molemen, 2003. Used
It's turning out to be a fine season for Chicago hip hop! Vakill of the Moleman family turns out a nice & raw solo outing, a darker- edged set with appearances by Slug, Copywrite, Breez Evaflowin, and Camu Tao. The production is handled by DJ Panik and Vakill, for a consistent feel throughout. ... CD

Priority, 1998. Used
Sure, Ras Kass is going for the commercial side of things with a few of the tracks here (like the songs with Dr. Dre, Mack 10 and Twista) but if you fast forward past those, you'll get an LP just about as nice as his first one. "Interview With A Vampire" is a continuation of the history ... CD
Def Jux, 2004. Used
RJD2 returns with more of his signature style epic hip hop. This time out – no rappers allowed, which was a good move in our book, considering his production really shines when he doesn't cater to an MC. This effort has got a little bit of fusion flare, with wisps of synths on some tracks ... CD
X-pressions
Asphodel, 1997. Used
A great album from the legendary dj crew X-ecutioners otherwise known as the X-Men. About half the LP is DJ tracks with the amazing turntable work you'd expect from Roc Raider, Mista Sinista, and Rob Swift. These tracks are more dense, with separate 4-5 minute tracks as opposed the sprawling style ... CD
