Chiemi + Jazz (plus bonus track)
CD (Item 598786) King (Japan), Late 50s/1960s — Condition: New Copy
A rich document of the vocal stylings of Chiemi Eri – one of the greatest Japanese jazz singers of the postwar era – and an artist capable of hitting a really wide variety of modes! There's a huge amount of material in this collection – 26 tracks in all – and in addition to familiar torchy styles, Eri also has a way of stretching out into more upbeat sounds, some slinkier sexier moments, and even a few fully emotive tracks that come across as a real surprise! Overall, the range is a bit like some of the best RCA female vocal dates from the US scene of the late 50s – and really help augment some of the other Eri albums that we already know. Titles include "September Song", "Side By Side", "Begin The Beguine", "Stardust", "Blue Moon", "Alfie", "Come On A My House", "A Guy Is A Guy", and "Lover Come Back To Me".
