Deadly Weapons
CD (Item 595941) Nato (France), 1986 — Condition: New Copy
One of John Zorn's great genre-crossing projects of the 80s – a really playful and extremely experimental batch of tracks done in the very open freedom of the legendary Nato label! The set features Zorn on alto sax and clarinet, plus a host of other interesting musical elements – and it's a very collaborative effort, with Steve Beresford on keyboards, trumpet, guitar, and a million other things – definitely in his more avant side of the spectrum – plus David Toop on guitar and a range of other sonic sources – and vocalist Tonie Marshall, whose contributions are often nice and subtle. There's a great sense of energy here that really recalls the optimism of this moment in music – a time when it seemed that just about anything was possible on sessions like this! Titles include "Dumb Boxer", "Lady Whirlwind", "Shockproof", "Du Gris", "King Cobra", "Chien Pei Pei", and "Jayne Mansfield". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
