Another nice one from Sade – perhaps not as edgey as some of her earlier work, recorded in a slightly smoother style, but still quite nice to our ears – as Sade's always been a pleasure, no matter what the setting! Includes the nicely grooving "Nothing Can Come Between Us", plus "Turn My Back On You", "Haunt Me", "Love Is Stronger Than Pride", "Give It Up", "Keep Looking", and "I Never Thought I'd See The Day". (Includes the printed inner sleeve.)  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.

Epic, 1979. Very Good+
A late 70s gem from Patti Labelle! Although the album's recorded right in the height of the disco years, Patti's really shining on the mellower cuts – hitting a serious soulful side that shows that her move to a solo act really let her move into more sophisticated material. A masterpiece of harmony soul – one of THE all-time greats of the genre, and a lasting treasure from The Stylistics! The album really took vocal soul to a whole new level for the 70s – pushing from the sometimes fragile ballad style of the late 60s into a smoother, more mature sound ... LP, Vinyl record album

Polydor, 1979. Very Good+
An oft-overlooked funky soul gem from the incredible Roy Ayers – taking turns with both uptempo material and more smoothed out soul sounds – all done with Roy's trademark jazzy approach to the dancefloor! Kool Jazz
De-Lite, Early 70s. Very Good
A great album – even if most of the cuts are on other records! The set's designed to focus on the jazzier side of Kool & The Gang – and it sifts through the first few albums to come up with some of the more sophisticated (yet still totally funky!) numbers by the band, giving a good ...
