Exclusively For My Friends Vol 5 – Mellow Mood
CD (Item 585875) MPS (Japan), 1968 — Condition: New Copy
Killer work from Oscar Peterson – one of his seminal late 60s sides for the MPS label – recorded in a loose, open-ended style that even tops the greatness of his previous work for Verve! The production is wonderful – a very relaxed setting created by MPS producer Hans Georg Brunner-Schwer – and Oscar's working with Sam Jones on bass, and Bob Durham on drums – recording at Brunner-Schwer's home, which is about as informal as you can get for a date like this! Titles are mostly classics, but opened up in the Peterson way – and tunes include "In A Mellotone", "Nica's Dream", "Green Dolphin Street", "Summertime", "Sometimes I'm Happy", and "Who Can I Turn To". © 1996-2013, Dusty Groove, Inc. | |||||
