Sweetly stepping grooves from the Chicago scene – one of the greatest albums to come from the Windy City in a while, and easily the best so far from DJ Inc! The group have a mellow bottom groove that's totally great – spare beats and basslines that never lapse into the too-slick, or cloying modes of other steppers records – and over the top is a nicely maturing jazz sensibility, one that features strong solos on sax and trumpet, plus a bit of soulful vocals! The whole thing has a laidback groove that's totally great, and every bit the perfect summation of the groove the Chicago scene has been trying for for years, but never reached this well before. Titles include "Bubbs Lounge", "Beautiful Point", "Grown & Sexy", "Is It Tight", "Serve Chilled", "Select Music Programming", and "Late Night Drive".  © 1996-2014, Dusty Groove, Inc.
